The Practice is generally open from 8.00am until 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
Routine 10 minute consultations are bookable by appointment, generally between 8.30am and 5.30pm, 5 mornings and 4 afternoons. These may be made in person or by telephone after 9.00am. Friday afternoon surgeries are generally for urgent appointments but routine appointments are available on request.
You can now use Patient Access to view, book and cancel appointments at the surgery from home, work or on the move – wherever you can connect to the internet. What’s more, because Patient Access is a 24 hour online service – you can do this in your own time, day or night. You will need to register at the practice in person with identification, before you are able to use this service. Our reception staff will give you a pin and access ID which are required to enable you to register for this service.
If you feel you require an urgent/same day appointment, telephone the surgery and request triage. You may be asked to give a brief outline of your problem in order that the nurse may offer advice or an appointment with the appropriate Health Professional.
Triage is a system to determine the priority of a patient’s treatment based on the severity of their condition.
1. Telephone the reception and request Triage
2. A Nurse or Doctor will telephone you and ask about your symptoms (it is essential that you keep your telephone line free/answer as soon as possible). When calling you, our number displays as 0800 678 3393 but you cannot call us back on this number.
3. A Nurse or Doctor will assess and decide what to do to help you.
Will I get an appointment?
They may make an appointment that day, either with themselves or another Doctor or Nurse.
They may be able to give advice over the telephone and book a follow up appointment for another day.
They may be able to reassure you that your symptoms are not serious and transfer you to reception to make a routine appointment.
They may prepare a prescription for you.
PLEASE NOTE: An emergency triage appointment is to treat your presenting condition and is for one patient only. Please make a routine appointment to discuss any other problems you may have.
At the moment we do not normally make routine appointments more than 2 weeks in advance.
A selection of extended hours appointments are available outwith 8am and 6pm. Please ask the receptionist for details.
When booking appointments, it is worth remembering that our Practice Nurses are available to treat ailments such as sore throats, earache, cystitis, and many other minor ailments, as well as offering advice on pre conceptual matters, contraception and blood pressure monitoring. If you are unsure whether a nurse appointment would be appropriate, please ask when booking your appointment.
To make an appointment please telephone: 01475 502450 or 01475 502451
If you wish to speak to a GP or with a practice nurse with regards to something that does not require a consultation you should call the practice and inform the reception staff, who will advise of the best time to contact the GP if they are not available when you call. This time will usually be after surgery or before the start of the next surgery.
Please advise the staff if your call is urgent. They will take your details and you will be called back as soon as is appropriate.
You may be offered a telephone consultation with a Nurse. These appointments are available if patients are comfortable with it and feel that they will be able to resolve the problem without the need for a face-to face consultation. These appointments are available to book.
If you require medical attention and are unable to attend the Health Centre for a consultation, a home visit may be required. As with urgent /same day appointments, please be prepared to give a brief summary of your problem so that the best possible service may be offered to you.
Home visits should only be requested for patients who are seriously ill or housebound. It is important to bear in mind that most medical problems are dealt with more effectively in the clinical setting of a well-equipped surgery or hospital.
Patients should realise that home visits are made at the doctor’s discretion.
Please dial 01475 502451 for a home visit request during surgery opening times.
Please request routine home visits BEFORE 10.00am
Naturally emergencies can occur at any time.
